Dr Kate Owen is a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Family Therapist with a specialty in working with adolescents and families. Kate is available on Thursday's and provides assistance to clients experiencing a wide range of symptoms including depression, anxiety, trauma, school difficulties, adjustment issues following family separation, and family conflict.
Kate's area of specialty is Family Therapy. Family Therapy does not require all members of a family to attend counselling. Kate can work with an individual, couple, or groups of family members using a Family Therapy approach. The difference with this treatment approach is that a person's difficulties are viewed as "relational" and "interpersonal" in nature.
If you feel that relationship issues are exacerbating your current difficulties then this approach could be helpful for you.
Dr Kate Owen is a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Family Therapist with professional affiliation with AHPRA, The Australian Psychological Society (APS), The College of Clinical Psychologists within the APS, and The Australian Association of Family Therapists (AAFT).
Kate provides supervision to registered practitioners, practitioners seeking Clinical Endorsement and registration through the 4+2 pathway, and group supervision for various government and non-government agencies.
Kate provides consultation and delivers workshops in her area of speciality, Family Systems Theory.
Kate is also a member of staff at The University of Queensland in the Masters of Mental Health (Family Therapy) degree.
