Families

Family problems from mild to severe can manifest in the healthiest of families, it can be the result of behavioural issues and or mental health issues in the happy family2family or from specific stressful events. This can result in challenging, frustrating, and sometimes painful interactions within the family. It may occur from little irritations or from buried resentments, from dramatic arguments to feelings of guilt, disappointment, and anger we did not even know we had. Other areas that Drop Of Life’s Psychologists and Counsellors may help children and adolescents within the family context may include:

  • Coping with changes in family dynamics
  • Coping with loss or trauma
  • Parenting concerns
  • Parent- child/ adolescent relationships
  • Sibling Rivalry
  • Specific issues that may arise due to Foster care, same sex parents, adoption.

During the family therapy process at Drop Of Life, the entire family is seen by our therapist. While one member of the family may have symptoms, their solution may lie in treating the family as a whole. Our team is rewarded by the process of motivating and empowering families. We focus on providing the whole system involved with the family including parents teachers, grandparents if needed etc. The system is provided with practical strategies for home and school and peer relationships.
